Pliroforiki Koufopoulou is a certified exam and computer training center based in Greece, offering a wide range of IT courses, ECDL certifications, and professional development programs. With a strong local presence and years of educational expertise, the center empowers students and professionals alike to enhance their digital skills and achieve industry-recognized certifications.

The Challenge

Pliroforiki Koufopoulou reached out with a clear yet complex request: to transform their Microsoft Access-based internal system into a modern, cloud-ready web application—without disrupting their daily operations. The Access database, which managed student records, exams, schedules, and administrative workflows, was being used locally while the data was hosted in the cloud. However, the client sought greater flexibility, accessibility, and long-term sustainability through a custom-built solution.

The project involved not only replicating the existing functionality but also ensuring that the new application was 100% reliable, modern, and scalable—built using state-of-the-art technologies. And with daily operations at stake, the entire system had to be migrated and launched in just a few hours.

Full System Replication

We were tasked with recreating the entire Microsoft Access environment—its structure, queries, and user flows—within a custom web application. The goal was to make the new platform feel instantly familiar to staff, while running on a completely modern stack.

Data Migration & Integrity

Every bit of data—from student profiles and attendance logs to certification tracking—had to be migrated from Access to a robust MySQL backend, with complete accuracy and zero data loss.

The new web app needed to be future-proof. That meant building it with modern tools and frameworks, ensuring it was fully cloud-deployable, secure, and ready for long-term use without dependence on legacy systems.

Minimal Downtime

The transition had to be executed quickly and efficiently—outside working hours—to ensure that the team could continue using the system the very next day, now through a seamless web interface.

Our Solution

To deliver a smooth transition from Microsoft Access to a high-performance web application, we engineered a custom platform using a modern, scalable tech stack. The new solution replicated every aspect of the original system while unlocking greater speed, accessibility, and reliability—with zero disruption to the center’s operations.

Custom Web Application Development

We rebuilt the entire system using Angular for a dynamic, responsive frontend and Node.js for a powerful backend. This ensured a fast, secure, and user-friendly experience that mirrored the Access-based interface staff were already familiar with—while making it accessible from any browser or device.

Seamless Data Migration

All data and logic from Microsoft Access were carefully migrated to a PostgreSQL database. We preserved table structures, relationships, and existing queries to maintain full functionality and data integrity, ensuring nothing was lost in the transition.

Scalable & Containerized Architecture

To future-proof the application, we deployed it using Docker, enabling isolated environments, rapid scaling, and simplified maintenance. This containerized setup also improved deployment speed and made updates easier moving forward.

The final rollout was performed overnight, leveraging Docker to streamline deployment and ensure system readiness by morning. The client’s staff logged into a fully functional web application the next day—with no training required and no service interruption.
